This is a rare and wonderful CGC graded copy of Marvel Comics Amazing Fantasy , which introduced Spider-Man to the world. The comic book was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. According to Lee, he rejected Ditko s original cover art and asked Jack Kirby to create an alternative. Lee chose to use Kirby s cover art and had Ditko ink the cover. The comic was published by Marvel Comics in August . The original cover price was 0. . Amazing Fantasy was to be the final comic in the that series. With nothing to lose, Lee petitioned to introduce a new superhero a teenage boy faced with the normal trials of daily life but who also secretly had some amazing superpowers. The first appearance of Spider-Man in Amazing Fantasy set the stage for The Amazing Spider-Man series, which was first produced by Marvel Comics in . The series became Marvel s most successful comic book. The story continues today under the direction of Marvel Entertainment, a division of The Walt Disney Company.
